I got dressed up as feminist artist Judy Chicago for Halloween this year. In 2007, when we were preparing for the EA&ER symposium at CalArts, Elana, Theresa, and I saw Judy Chicago in person during the feminist caucus events at CAA in NYC. I remembering being spellbound by her personal transformation from au naturel hardcore Second Wave Feminist to dyed and made-up Femi-lebrity. The big hair! The tinted glasses! The legacy!!

On Halloween night, I found the perfect curly wig and glasses at Ozzie Dots on Hollywood Blvd., burgundy lip liner, a 99 cent IKEA plate from Goodwill, and some cheap-o nail polish to make the Hatshepsut plate from “The Dinner Party”. Being Judy for a night, I felt like the woman I never knew I could be.
